Duvoisin guitars and basses, handcrafted with characteristic Swiss precision |
Duvoisin ®, Swiss Made guitars and basses

|
We do not have many Swiss guitar manufacturers. However the real inventor of the electric guitar was a Swiss who emigrated to the United States, Adolph Rickenbacker, spelt Rickenbacher here in Switzerland, as we explained in our section on the history of the guitar. As early as 1931, Adolph Rickenbacker, in partnership with George Beauchamp, founded in the United States the first factory for the manufacture of electric guitars. Swiss wood, in particular sprucewood from the Vallée de Joux, is a favourite among several recognized guitar makers for acoustic guitars. Old documents about woods used for making instruments, like pianos, organs, harps and violins, show that our Swiss woods were widely employed in this field. We are currently completing a series of tests on the suitability of various Swiss woods for this purpose: results due in a few weeks…(see our news, for April 21, about Swiss wood). At Duvoisin & Co we aim to apply the traditions of quality Swiss workmanship to the making of guitars and basses. We apply the strictest quality standards in our manufacturing techniques. For example we use a special machine, developed in this area, for securing precision in the necks and fingerboards of our instruments. All instruments from Duvoisin & Co, the simpler models just as much as the luxury ones in precious woods , undergo the same tests for quality and workmanship in our workshops, at every stage of the manufacturing process. So there you have it: we are proud of our product and we aim to distribute our guitars and basses to the musical world with pride. Our ancestors were watchmakers and we wish to apply the same standards of precision and attention to detail in our handcrafted instruments, as they showed when making clocks and watches. |
