Jacques DuvoisinBorn 1951, father of Gilles Jacques is the clock-maker of the team. He’s constantly seeking new challenges, and his skills in micro-mechanics, with woods, and also, of course, in music, enable him to come up with innovative solutions to many of our technical problems. Practised and skilled in the repair of old clocks and watches, Jacques has adapted his techniques as a watchmaker and restorer of beautiful things to developing methods of making guitars and basses. A great lover of the bass, and fan of Chuck Rainey, Marcus Miller, as well as Stanley Clarke and Victor Wooten, Jacques keeps a fatherly eye on the progress of Duvoisin & Co. |
Gilles DuvoisinBorn 1982 Gilles’ experience in the guitar trade (Ace Guitars) lends Duvoisin & Co its knowledge of the tonal qualities, shapes, and finishes which our clientele will looking for. His desire always to find the perfect solution make his voice indispensable in our discussions about how we should proceed. His familiarity with the technical problems of adjusting guitars, learned at the feet of Sonny F (once guitar tech for Chet Atkins), makes him the king of our neck-making section. He’s the one who sites the frets, checks the details, adds the electronics, and checks the final adjustments of each instrument. Like the other members of Duvoisin & Co, he, of course, contributes to the design and development of our instruments. Gilles has been playing the guitar since he was eight. He now plays in a punk rock group, and is particularly attached to Snitch, Metallica… |
Didier CouletBorn 1973 Old and close friend of both Jacques and Gilles, Didier is the one who puts into effect the decisions we take. Didier is a natural organiser and businessman. Didier is also an enthusiast, both for guitars and for wood. He’s been steeped in wood from an early age, because it’s his family business. His unusual ability both to understand and to apply the solutions we suggest has made him a vital link in the chain at the workshop. He delights in innovation and finds plenty of it with us. Didier has long been a saxophone player, and has been learning the guitar for some years now. He likes almost all sorts of music, from classical through heavy metal to jazz. |
