After a solid training as electric bass in different groups, extending from rock and jazz through to blues and funk, he became excited by the acoustic sonorities of the double bass and by its many possibilities. He developed his own particular elemental style, which brought out the naturalness and spontaneity of his playing.

He was a leading bassist and double bassist in national and international concerts, such as the International Jazz Festival of Montreal, the International Festival of University Music –FIMU, the Euro Pop Days of Freiburg im Brisgau and The Francosonic Festival of London.

Working with groups in Switzerland and abroad (France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Canada, Mauritius, Tunisia) he rubbed elbows, on the stage or in the studio, with, amongst others, the Canadians Charles Papasoff, François D’Amours, Jean-Pierre Zannella, the English Dave O’Higgins and Steve Grant, the German Wolfgang Obert, the French Denis Leloup et the Swiss Thierry Lang, Matthieu Michel, John Voirol, Popol Lavanchy, Jean-François Bovard, Emilien Tolk, Alain Tissot, Mathieu Schneider, Serge Kottelat, Marcos Jimenez, Julien Monti, Michel Zbinden, Claude Berset, Maurizio Peretti, Patrick Lehmann, Jacques Ditisheim, Christophe Berthet, Teddy Bärlocher, Hans Koch, and Matthias Ziegler to name but a few.

In the course of his musical career, Olivier Nussbaum, has already worked in more than fifteen bands, has composed and performed in concerts mixing many different styles. Notably in 2000, he mounted his project ‘the Planets’ Song’, a multimedia performance combining music, sound sculptures, and video projections, which he presented across all Switzerland.

He’s currently involved with several shows and groups, including Corpus, Blue Groove Syndicate, Pinocchio, Tango + and Alias Trio.

Professor at the Conservatoire of la Chaux-de-Fonds and of Neuchâtel, teaching Jazz and Improvisation techniques in their professional sections, Olivier Nussbaum also takes private pupils and lends his own special improvisatory talent to group workshops.

A few words about Duvoisin ® instruments :

What particularly surprises me about Duvoisin & Co’s basses is their astonishing ‘maturity’. Actually, after only four years of research and making prototypes, Duvoisin & Co are putting out basses of absolutely impeccable standards of guitar-making and precision !
The finish is worthy of the most famous makers and the attention to detail makes each instrument an object to cherish.
And beyond the traditional techniques which they have mastered so well, Duvoisin & Co are going forward with experiments to bring technical improvements should bring us some great surprises before very long…Keep an eye open!
